The Finally Blog

Pretty much the Cold War was a a back and forth arguement between the United States and the Soviet Union. It all started because communism was starting to grow and the U.S wanted to stop it. Through out this war, The two countries were bombing each other trying to get the other one to surrender. IT took a very long time, but finally the U.S came out of the Cold War winners! This excited the United States but also showed a sign of relief for the Government and the Military

The H-bomb

The hydrogen bomb was created by the United States to help comtrol the war with the Soviet Union. The first H-bomb was started to be created in 1950, by the United States. The U.S had used 2 or 3 nucleur test for the hydrogen bomb. When the United States first used the hydrogen bomb, the Soviets were very suprised how powerful the bomb really was. Once the bomb had been set off, about a month later the President asked for another hydrogen bomb to be made incase the Soviets try to attack back. An as the President said, the Soviets did attack back with there own hydrogen bomb. After the Soviets had set theres off, the president ordered for the 2 hydrogen bomb to be detinated. The soviets could not handle the 2 bomb. So they finally came through and ended the war with the Americans. People think the war was ended because the Soviets were scared of more hydrogen bombs being used on them. But they didnt know the Americans on had 2 and it would have teken the U.S many many months to even have another one made.

American roles

After world war 2, America was being seen as a very strong country and had a powerful military and political group. After the war tension started to grown between America and the Soviet Union. U.S was in a argument with the Soviets about the control of communism. Both nations wanted to wait for the one to strike first. American first got really involved in the cold war when they found out that the Soviets had detinated a hydrogen bomb. Soon after we found this out, American went and had smeone create there own hydrogen bomb. Once America dropped the bomb. The soviets were terrifeid because they seen what the bomb had done. An a few months later the Americans dropped another bomb. This cause the Soviets to surrender finally, giving the Americans a victory.

The Modern Days

Even Though the Cold War ended years ago between the U.S.A and the U.S.S.R, there is still much tension between the two. We still compete to try an do better than the other country, even if we dont notice we are. For exapmle in the Olympics this winter. The U.S.A fans were routing for the hockey to team to beat the Russian team. Most people did not want to have to live with knowing the U.S.A lost to Russian, for a chance to get into the finals, and play Canada for the gold medals. Another example is in war. When America goes to war they know that the U.S.S.R is not a ally but is also not an enemy that they know of. So pretty much it all comes down to is the U.S.A does not want to lose to the Russians in anything! An the Russians feel the same way about the Americans. Which is always going to cause cery much tension between the two former enemies. Last example is when the U.S and Russia were ina race to see who could successfully get a satalite into space, this took many many tries and failures before the U.S finally got the first one into space.

Showing the Tension!

Few years after the Atomic bomb was dropped, the Soviet Union created its own version of the bomb! Tension erose when the Soviet Union started to actively expand its military in Eastern Europe. After hearing about all this the United states went to Edwars Teller who created the A-Bomb and asked him to create a bigger and bettet bomb. Few months later the H-bomb was created. When this was made the U.S threatened to use the bomb if they went to war. They also exclaimed they had many of these bombs and they were much more powerful than the Atomic bomb.

Cold war summary. USA rules!

The main enemies in the cold war were the United States and the Soviet Union. The war got its name from both sides being afraid of directly attacking each other. So basically the Cold War started over a mis-trust between the two countries. This also started because the Soviet and the US didn't agree on what government to have. The US wanted to pick government by free voting. The Soviet Union wanted pick be a communist.
