American first got really involved in the cold war when they found out that the Soviets had detinated a hydrogen bomb. Soon after we found this out, American went and had smeone create there own hydrogen bomb. Once America dropped the bomb. The soviets were terrifeid because they seen what the bomb had done. An a few months later the Americans dropped another bomb. This cause the Soviets to surrender finally, giving the Americans a victory.
